Here is more info on Lauren, Alex and Luis:
Lauren, like many runners, started as a middle distance runner in her hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas. She remained an 800- and 1500-meter runner throughout college and into the beginning of her post-collegiate career. It was when she tried the 5,000 meters, however, that she finally found out she was a distance runner. In her first professional try at the distance she won the 2016 Mt Sac Relays in 15:20.44.

After graduating from Baylor University in 2008, Lauren chose to focus on the 800 and 1500, eventually setting personal bests of 2:02.97 and 4:09.86. In 2016, she switched her focus to the 3,000 and 5,000 meters, and has had an enormous amount of success in those events. Lauren joined HOKA NAZ Elite in January of 2020, but due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, was unable to race until July. She finished third at the KT Tape St. George Showdown over 5,000 meters in her first competition as a member of the team. Then, in late August, she won the Sunset Tour 5,000 in a new PB of 15:10.01 and followed that up with a 31:53.72 over 10,000 meters at the HOKA Distance Carnival.
Lauren’s 2021 got off to a rough start with a hamstring injury that derailed her spring but she still gutted out a seventh-place finish at the U.S. Olympic Trials in the 5,000 meters. Her fall included a fifth-place finish at the USATF 5k Championships, a fantastic leg on HOKA NAZ Elite’s second place finish at the Michigan Pro Ekiden and a stellar half marathon debut time of 1:09:46–via a fourth-place finish at the USATF Half Marathon Championships. During that run she set team records for 15k and 10 miles en route.
After a difficult 2022, Lauren kicked off her 2023 campaign with a win, and a course record, at the Cardiff Kook Run in 31:53. Two weeks later she blasted out of the gates and eventually finished second at the USATF Half Marathon Championships to teammate Aliphine Tuliamuk. Then in June, in her marathon debut, she won the Grandma’s Marathon in 2:25:55–the fourth-fastest U.S. debut of all time. In the fall, she set a PB in the half marathon (1:09:41) en route to a 10th-place finish at the Valencia Half Marathon. Unfortunately, she was not completely healthy at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials Marathon and was forced to drop out of the race before the 10-mile mark.

Alex grew up in the Mt. Elgon District of Kenya–a rural part of the country before eventually moving with his family to Trans-Nzoia in the Rift Valley. He comes from a family of professional distance runners. His brother Moses was a two-time Olympian. His sister Linet was an Olympic Bronze Medalist and a World Championship Gold Medalist, and his sister Maggie is a 2:22 marathoner. Alex chose to play other sports in high school, including team handball, before deciding to move to the United States for college on a running scholarship.
Alex joined HOKA NAZ Elite in August of 2021. He began his professional career in the winter of 2022 by setting a team record, and a personal best, of 7:47.63 at the BU Terrier Classic. Two weeks later he set another personal best (and another team record) of 13:22.53 at the BU Valentine Invite. His outdoor season was highlighted by a 7th-place finish at the BAA Road 10k in 28:29–a team record.
He kicked off 2023 with a PB at 10,000 meters in 27:42.80 at The Ten and followed that up with a 4th-place finish at the BAA 5k on the roads where his time of 13:27 was a new team record. On Memorial Day, he finished 2nd at the world famous BOLDERBoulder 10k in a thrilling race to the finish. He recorded another podium finish the next month at the BAA 10k in a road PB and team record of 28:09. At the Kenyan World Championship Trials, Alex finished seventh in 27:59. In January of 2024 he made his debut at the half marathon distance, running 1:01:46 to finish 11th at the Aramco Houston Half. A month later he set a PB at 5,000 meters (13:18.96) at the BU Valentine Invite. He returned to the roads in the spring and finished third at the Cooper River Bridge Run in April.

Luis Grijalva is a professional distance runner who represents Guatemala on the world stage in the 1500m, 3000m and 5000m . Born in Guatemala, Luis moved to America when he was a child and attended Armijo High School in Fairfield, California, where he was a state champion in cross country and track. He competed for Northern Arizona University from 2017 to 2021, securing multiple All-American finishes in the NCAA. In 2021, Grijalva began competing professionally for HOKA. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, he finished 12th in the 5000m. He also finished fourth in the 5000m at both the 2022 and 2023 World Athletics Championships. Most recently, Luis represented Guatemala at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
