NAPERVILLE WOMEN’S HALF MARATHON & 5K

The latest event for female runners and walkers is hitting the streets on Sunday, April 24, 2016. The Naperville Women’s Half Marathon & 5k, presented by Naperville Running Company, will begin on the campus of North Central College, wind through downtown and scenic nearby streets and finish back on campus, where runners and spectators can watch an elite women’s 5k race.

Registration for the race begins at 10 a.m. CST on Tuesday, January 26, on the race web site www.napervillewomenshalf.com and, according to Bill Burke, race director and owner of Premiere Event Management, early sign-up could save runners a lot of money in registration fees. Registration for this race begins at $1 for either the 5k or the half marathon. Once those limited $1 spots are gone, the price goes up to $5. Once those are gone, registration goes up to $10 and so on. The fees continue to rise in $5 increments throughout the registration process. Full instructions on the process can be found on the race web site.

At the completion of the half-marathon, the third competition of the day will showcase a host of elite female runners racing on a closed three-lap 5,000-meter course. This race offers a $5,000 purse and will draw some of the fastest female runners from around the world.

The Naperville Women’s Half Marathon & 5k will benefit two favorite local charities, Burke said. Donations in the amount of $5,000 each will be made to both Little Friends and 360 Youth Services.
